The Women and Youth Art Foundation was founded and structured into a registered NGO in 2004 although workshops and training had begun since 1994. The Foundation began in Ibadan and was initially conceived as a web- based NGO. It later moved to its present location in Lagos in March 2016. The Centre is now located at the tourist area of Akerele, Surulere Lagos known for ‘Adire’ production at 14 Bank Olemoh Close, Off Bank Olemoh Crescent (near Eko Hospital), Surulere, Lagos. It is equipped with facilities for training in a broad area of the visual arts.

In 2012, the Women and Youth Art Foundation collaborated with the Bronx Museum of the Fine Arts, New York hosted the Hilary Clinton SmARTpower project on a US State Department programme known as smARTpower.
The Women and Youth Art Foundation has to its credit several community-based projects with the physically challenged in the School of the Blind and Cheshire home in Nigeria.
One of our greatest achievements is the production of elearning DVDs and magazines on step- by- step teaching of various arts and crafts. These materials are the first of their kind in Nigeria with well over three hundred thousand copies distributed across Nigeria.Detail
The Foundation organizes workshops in various arts and crafts to include some of the traditional crafts which are going extinct. Areas of interest include, gold and silver smiting, printmaking, painting, ceramics, bronze casting and general arts and crafts.
